No.30 Pencil Sharpener
Created by Nicol Boyd and Tomas Rosén of ‘Office for Product Design’, the No.30 Pencil Sharpener features a superellipsoid body, cast in two pieces. The top half is an integrally-formed sharpener made of lightweight aluminum, contrasting the hefty bottom made of zinc alloy. Both pieces are finished with a rough surface for a uniform look and a better grip. Thanks to its low center of gravity, the sharpener stands straight and rights itself when pushed over, keeping any lead or shavings from spilling out.
Made by No.30, a family-run workshop specialized in zinc casting (their brand name is based on zinc’s atomic number on the periodic table)
