Shitaku Mortar & Pestle
The Shitaku Mortar and Pestle, designed by Makoto Koizumi, one of Japan’s foremost industrial designers, is crafted for the renowned Japanese brand Kihara. The unglazed interior of this ripple ridge mortar features the traditional suribachi grooved pattern, known as kushi-no-me. This textured surface makes it effortless to grind round ingredients like seeds and small nuts, while efficiently extracting moisture and essential oils from herbs and spices.
This refined kitchen essential is available in two sizes: the classic Mortar and Pestle, and the versatile bowl edition, which functions as both a grinder and a serving dish.
